Frequently Asked Questions

MYTH 1: HYPNOSIS IS MIND CONTROL

Mind control hypnosis does not exist.  When someone is hypnotised, they do not become your slaves.  They are not someone who has to do everything you tell them to do.  In hypnosis they merely want to do more of the things they want to do.  Every person has their moral code and no person will break that moral code in hypnosis.  So you do more of the things you want to do because when you are in hypnosis you are the one who is in control all the time.

MYTH 2: HYPNOSIS IS SLEEP

As hypnosis is not a mind control, another thing that hypnosis is not —-and this is a BIG MYTH—- HYPNOSIS IS NOT SLEEP.  A word sleep is usually suggested to put someone in hypnosis but it is not a kind of sleep people normally think about. At night time you go to sleep and you dream, and for most part of the night you are unaware.  You are totally unconscious. Now hypnosis is not like that at all.  When you are in hypnosis, you are on the border line of sleep.  In hypnosis you are fully aware of everything around you. In fact, in hypnosis you are more aware of the things going on around you because your physical body is more relaxed and your all other senses are heightened.  You are more aware of the sounds around you and you are more aware of the feelings and sensations. So in hypnosis you tend to be more aware rather than less aware.

MYTH 3: HYPNOTIC MEMORY LOSS

Most people think that when you come out of hypnosis, you will not remember anything that has happened.  When you come out of hypnosis you will remember everything that has happened unless it was a very traumatic event and your subconscious mind holds that information for your protection.  Only other time you will not remember is that if it is suggested to you and you accept that suggestion.  You are the one who is in control and it is up to you to accept or reject a suggestion.

MYTH 4: GETTING STUCK IN HYPNOSIS

Another concern that people have is related to this idea of sleep.  What if you never wake up?  What if you are hypnotised and you cannot come back out?
Let me tell you that, it is impossible to happen.  No one is ever stuck in hypnosis and you always come back.
But what if the hypnotist dies when you are in hypnosis then who will bring you back out of hypnosis.  The very worst thing that can happen to you is that if you do not hear anything from the hypnotist for a while then you will drift into a sleep and then you will wake up naturally after a while, having had the world’s best sleep ever.

MYTH 5: REVEALING DARK SECRETS

The final myth that I want to address is the idea about people telling their secrets while they are in hypnosis.  People have a feeling that when they are hypnotised they are vulnerable, that they will start opening themselves up and exposing things that they are not ready to expose.
Whilst hypnosis can be used in order to open doors that are normally kept locked, it is usually done in a way to help people overcome their difficulties and problems about themselves.  In other words it is done with their consent.  It is done with their desire.
So in hypnosis you can still keep your secrets, unless of course, you really decide that you want to tell them.
